What Does Hahaas Do?
Hahaas produces stand-up comedy audio recordings and distributes them digitally worldwide at iTunes. Since there are no physical CD’s to produce our costs are minimal. This allows Hahaas to pay artists 50% of the retail price from sale #1 at iTunes. That’s $5.00 for every $9.99 sale. Hahaas is about giving the “record label expenses” back to the artists!
How Does Hahaas Work?
Comedians provide Hahaas with original recordings, old or new, in any format: CD, DAT, Minidisc, Pro Tools session, WAV files, DVD, Reel To Reel, etc. Hahaas handles all aspects of production and distribution: mixing, mastering, editing & producing, artwork, UPC & ISRC codes and digital delivery to iTunes...all for free!
Hahaas can produce and distribute any number of shows or sets of any length if the master recordings sound good and are funny. We can have your material for sale on iTunes and earning money in 3 to 4 weeks. Hahaas can also distribute fully produced, independently released CD's.
What's The Catch?
There is none! Hahaas will not hold comedians to any long term deals and you do not have to sign away any rights. Artists can record and resell the same material. Artists can terminate at any time without any penalty. All rights revert back to the artist and Hahaas will immediately remove their material from iTunes.

Hahaas will record select headliners anywhere in the USA at no expense to the artist. Most headliners performing in the Washington DC are eligible. Rules may apply.

Artwork For Hahaas Releases
For all Hahaas releases, Hahaas creates album artwork. Hahaas can use any image for album artwork. Hahaas can also create artwork with the artists name highly visible and a headshot included. If Hahaas is distributing a fully produced CD that already has artwork, we will use that artwork.
Creative Control On iTunes
Hahaas can quickly and easily change album artwork, most album information and album pricing on iTunes. Artists can change just about anything at anytime.

Hahaas will provide artists with direct links to their material on iTunes for posting and emailing.

Hahaas is the brainchild of Joel Haas, expert comedy producer and recording engineer. As XM Satellite Radio's Comedy Director for 8 years and the founding father of the Comedy format in Satellite Radio, Joel screened more comedy CD's than just about anybody in the comedy business. He found that many of them were poorly produced with sound quality issues. This literally drove Joel nuts. He set out to raise the standards of the stand-up recording industry by learning and mastering every aspect of stand-up comedy recording and producing.
Joel has been recording live comedy shows for Sirius XM airplay since early 2002, but his first CD recording was August 22, 2003 at the DC Improv with Allan Havey. Initially he used a 2 track portable DAT recorder, a simple mixing board, and a couple of good quality microphones to capture the crowd. He was on his way. He was helping great comedians put out sweet sounding, well edited CD's.
Over the years, Joel rarely turned down a live recording gig, constantly upgrading his equipment. He now uses at least 8 high quality microphones to capture crowds. For the comedian, he switches out the house microphone for a high quality wireless mic. He records every microphone onto a separate track on a laptop with Pro Tools, the industry standard for audio recording. He personally mixes, masters and edits all of these recordings. As of November 2008, Joel has recorded over 160 live comedy shows in venues that seat 25 to 2500. He's mixed, mastered and produced over 70 commercially released CD's and produced hundreds of performances for XM Satellite Radio and for comedian's archives. He has worked with Comedy Central Records, BBC Radio, Uproar Records, and comedians such as Louis C.K., Frank Caliendo, Kevin Nealon, Jim Gaffigan, Lewis Black, Bobby Slayton, Mike Birbiglia, Gabriel Iglesias, Adam Ferrara, Dick Gregory, Pablo Francisco, Rich Vos, Jake Johannsen, Tony Rock, Bob Marley and Doug Stanhope.
